Today I shared an idea that’s been living in my heart.
I was talking to Nina Solyu who runs her OceanCampers in Faro. We got into a conversation about what I feel called to do—offer surf classes and invite people to give from their hearts, rather than setting fixed prices or conditions.
She looked at me kindly and said,
“That’s beautiful… but what about the people who take advantage? I see it all the time. Around 30–40% of my clients avoid taking responsibility when they damage the vans. What will you do with people like that? Also, when things are offered for free, it can sometimes attract those who give nothing back.”
It’s a good question. One I’ve heard before. One that brings up a lot of the fears we’ve learned to carry in this world.
And still, my answer is this:
- I’m not here to protect myself from the world I don’t want.
- I’m here to help create the world I do want to live in.
I want to believe in trust again. I want to meet people in the heart. I want to share something I love—surfing, presence, freedom—and let life flow through it.
Of course, not everyone will meet it with the same energy. But that’s not a reason to close. That’s a reason to stay even more grounded in truth.
I’m learning that generosity doesn’t mean naivety. I can still have boundaries. I can say no when something feels off. I can invite people into a space of respect and mutual care.
But I don’t want fear to be my compass anymore.
This isn’t just about surf lessons.
It’s a deeper invitation—to co-create a space where we remember how good it feels to give from the heart, to receive with gratitude, to reconnect with something real.
So no, I don’t have a business plan in the traditional sense.
But I do trust life.
And I trust that when something is offered with love, life will take care of the rest.
