Some days, life feels like a series of pop quizzes from the Universe — not to punish us, but to see if we truly embody the values we’ve been claiming.

Today was one of those days for me.

Test 1 — The Abundant Yes

The day began with a surf session for six girls from Austria. They were joyful, open, and so grateful — the kind of clients that remind you why you love what you do. I felt energized, appreciated, and well-compensated. This was the Universe showing me what aligned exchange feels like.

Test 2 — The Almost-Yes

Later, a German woman approached me at the beach asking for a private lesson for her daughter. She offered €70, but after calculating my expenses and the 5.5 hours it would take, I knew it wasn’t a fair exchange for a 1:1 session.

I explained honestly, and she decided not to book.

Soon after, I received a message from someone else requesting a group lesson for five people. That group ended up booking for another day — not tomorrow — but still, it showed me that aligned opportunities exist and will find me.

Test 3 — The Old Paradigm Pull

Later, I got a call from a friend who wanted surf coaching. He told me to send him a “deal” so he could decide. I shared that I work on a “pay what feels right” basis, and he replied, “If you don’t tell me the price, you don’t have a client.”

In the past, I might have shifted to please him. But my truth now is simple: My business, my rules. I attract aligned clients who resonate with my vision, not ones who try to fit me into an old model.

The Twist

Not long after that call, D. — a surf school owner I collaborate with — offered me a private class for tomorrow morning. I said yes.

Later in the evening, he let me know the clients had made other plans and wouldn’t be coming after all.

Here’s the interesting part: I didn’t feel deflated.

Why? Because I no longer see these situations through a scarcity lens. I trust that what is truly mine won’t pass me by, and that holding my boundaries always leads to something better in the bigger picture — even if the timing isn’t instant.

And just as I was wrapping up my day, I received another message again – it was D., saying he needed my help tomorrow with another private class.

This time, it’s confirmed. I’m going.

The Lesson

These situations were mirrors, asking:

  • Will you choose truth over convenience?
  • Will you trust the long game over instant gratification?

Holding your worth isn’t about winning every moment — it’s about building an unshakable foundation for the life you want. Sometimes the “reward” comes instantly. Sometimes it takes days, weeks, or months. But it always comes.

My takeaway:

Every time we say no to what drains us, we’re making space for what truly nourishes us — even if the space stays empty for a while. That empty space is not a lack. It’s a sacred invitation.

Reflection Exercise — Spotting and Passing Your Own “Worth Tests”

Think about the last week or two in your life.

  1. Identify a moment where you were offered something that didn’t feel fair, aligned, or nourishing for you.
  2. Ask yourself:
  • Did I say yes or no?
  • If I said yes, was it from truth or from fear of missing out?
  • If I said no, how did life respond afterward?

3. Write down one sentence that sums up the lesson you took from that moment.

4. Set your intention for the next time a similar test arrives. Example:

  • “I trust that saying no to what’s not aligned opens space for what is.”

Remember — these moments are not about rejecting people or opportunities. They are about practicing alignment and self-respect until they become your default way of living.

If my story resonated with you and you’d like to support my vision of creating a holistic surf school where surfing meets mindfulness and conscious living, you’re welcome to contribute. Every donation helps me bring this dream to life and share it with more open-hearted souls.
